Kyra Alexandra Arnold writes about the things that shape us: the families we come from, the battles we fight, and the small, brave steps that carry us through.

She first published as Alexandra Helene. Her memoir, I Was Chosen to Make It, is an unflinching account of growing up alcoholic and finding recovery. Her poetry collection, In, Through and Back Out Again, came out the same spring.

Writing as Kyra A. Arnold, she is the author of the Building a Better Me! picture books, where kids learn focus, kindness, and courage from a patient Sensei, and of Karen's Kitchen, a loving and very funny tribute to her mom's dinner rotation.
